Lend him the Fender for a few days and ask to borrow his bass for some reason. Put new strings on his bass, do a setup and give it back to him.

This question can't simply be answered "wood" or "electronics". What makes a bass sound good is mostly strings, electronics, pickup placement, scale length, well seat frets and maybe a stable neck. What makes a bass play good is a good proje...(more)

Japanese ones are VERY good. Korean ones are just good. The sound is Bartolini'ish and Tobias'ish. Not my cup of tea.

This site has been incredibly slow for 6 or 7 years. Nice forum, but extremely hard to navigate.

No, I wouldn't ever use a "Phonic Sodomizer" in my rig. It's simply a non-adjustable EQ that can even damage your speakers by over-excursion (too much bass). A simple equalizer would work/sound better.

There's a few reasons why I rarely come here now: The main ones are: 1 - Site is WAY too slow, really hard to navigate. 2 - I like to discuss about boutique and high-end gear, but you hardly see it here... 3 - Site is a tad on the conservative...(more)

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from but I still think newbies should just stick to the basics and do them well. To each their own though...

Hey Eugene, don't want to sound like a *** bro, but you're kind of over-thinking this bass playing thing, man. Stick to scales, arpeggios, groove and let the music out. Just a friendly advice, so you won't waste your time re-inventing the wheel....(more)

Sometimes I use 2 Bergantino HT115 and they sound superb together. Gotta mention that each of them comes with one of the best horns in the market IMO.

Lakland Skylines has the best cost/benefit ration on any Jazz Basses in todays market. Squier VM or SX are great for the price too.
