Yep that can be an issue with some units, my Zooms are the same way. FWIW it is not the units that are at fault but a mismatch of signal levels, most digital recorders and many mixers are set up for mic level onlyso cannot handle a line level X...(more)

I will say that even with all my toys the Eden WTDI is on the top of my GAS list, with all the utility, Eden Tone, Aural Enhancer and a simple but useful compressor it is a pretty amazing box for so little money. I only wish they had put the co...(more)

Those are all fine choices but a lot depends on what sound you need.
The Eden WTDI has a lot of bang for the buck, especially if you dig the Eden tone.
The Avalon U5 is an amazing DI but may be a bit more gear that you will need with your se...(more)

People really luv the sanamp stuff but it always leaves me a meh.
My favorite tone tool these days is an [sfx] AY2, an update of the Yamaha NE-1.

15 and 31 band EQs are really geared for PA or engineering use and really aren't all that helpful for instrumentalists. I find simpler the better for getting my sound.

If there is a way to administer this to ensure that the musicians actually benefit from this it is a good idea. I think it might be better to offer a rebate program for club owners that meet the criteria. But that would necessitate declaring t...(more)

The biamp capabilities are only available using the speakon connections and i am pretty sure only with the correct GK speaker cabs. If you use the 1/4" connections you loose the 50 watts for the tweeter.
I have used that particular amp cab co...(more)

It's all about tone and feel. I started on cello and then upright bass - as much as i dig playing on frets there are some nuances you can only get on a fretless instrument. I have 2 fretless basses and an electric upright for those needs.

That is one of those guitar myths that have crept over into the bass world. Changing string is a perfect time to clean up your beast, polish the frets and fingerboard and other chores impossible when strung up. As long as you gradually release...(more)

Welcome Bill, most of us are 'older' so no worries there.
I have been using a GK MB500 for a couple of years now and it has been working out just fine for me, light powerful and just as warm as you might need it to be. The 4 band EQ will allow...(more)

That's a sweet bass for sure.
Why is it that Pawn Shop Basses always have the strings wrapped the wrong way?
