Yorkville gives you the best amp for the price, absolutly no argument. try a Yorkville BM200T it's a killer amp, very loud and awsome sound.

65% of your tone is in your fingers and your pickups. For strings I use D'Addirio because they're cheap

you do have a point, though I would never spend more than 2grand on a bass, an in that price range I would buy new.

once again, If your focus is punk then a Milestone IV is probabally more sutable, they're just very thumpy. but try both, see what you like.

well, P pickups(in the milestone IV) have a punchier, thumpy tone. the J-pickups (in the milestone III) have more richness and growel to them, they are also smoother. If you ask me J-pickups are better, it is true that they will never have the...(more)

Well, used basses and new basses usualy don't have that much of a price differenc, especially in the higher end models. and and I belive the fact that you get a warrenty makes it all worthwhile, especially in the higher end models. My guitar p...(more)

Buying new you get a warrenty, better resale value, better choice of colors, options etc. and a longer life out of the guitar. but like matt said you can get some great deals buying used

in that price range the only fenders you get get are the (shudder) Squire basses. I'd get a peavey, milestone you can get teh milestone III (j-bass) or the Milestone IV (p-bass) for punk I'd get the Milestone IV

it sounds more like your amp is picking up the hum. if your running both pickups on a fender jazz it's wired to cancel hum. I once had a interesting problem with noise. we were going insane one day trying to figure out why my guitar players a...(more)

I agree with everything you said except one thing, how can you blow a speaker by running low power through it? the disadvantage of running low power througha high-power speaker is that the sound of ten lacks bass and definition, not that your g...(more)

Guy! your bass will bee old some day. It will never be new again. besides what's the point of having an "aged" bass, it's all fake why not wait a few years untill it has some charecter to it, not some fake cosmetic job. but to each his own I ...(more)

I just got a beautiful ESP LTD C-304 bass. so now I'm looking at my cheap Peavey Milestone III with a sadistic eye. I would like to put new electrinics in it and a new bridge , now I know that the Bad A-- II bridge is made to fit exact on fend...(more)

try a BadAzz II bridge. in my humble opinion there is no real advantage of string-tru body over top load bridges.
