OLD SCHOOL ROCK-N-ROLLER now JAMMING FOR JESUS
I have been a rock-n-roller all my life and I love all of the classic rock music from the 60s and 70s. In July of 2002 I layed down my bong and picked up a bible. Without any doubts, that was the best decision I've ever made in my life. I am now a Christian but I still love that good-ole classic rock-n-roll. It is hard to get away from your roots, however, now I also have a great passion for Contemporary Christian Rock as well. I am a member of the worship band at the church I belong to and I play at a Saturday night service known as Saturday Night Sanctuary. Were doing songs by Third Day, News Boys, Chris Tomlin, The David Crowder Band, Lincoln Brewster, Matt Redman, etc. Norm Stockton plays bass for Lincoln Brewster and if you haven't ever heard Norm play you should check him out. But I must also admit that once in a while I still like to go back to my roots and play some classic rock with the guys out in the garage, the only difference is now I do it with my head on straight. I don't have a lot of gear so to speak. I have a Fender MIA Jazz Bass that I rescued from a pawn shop. My P-bass I built myself as a homebrew project. I also have a 1964 Framus Star De lux bass that was a complete basket case at one time but with a world wide search for parts and lots of TLC it has been given new life. In September, 2006 I purchased a new Fender Bassman 150 amp from The Guitar Center and so far it has been a great amp for me. I have a Zoom B2 multi effects pedal that I really only purchased as a toy to play with but now I do use it some when jamming with the guys. I guess I should also mention my Squier 15 watt practice amp just because Ive had it a long time and when Ive plugged it in and hit the power switch it has always worked like a little champ. I still have a blond acoustic that was bought by my dad for me when I was about 10 years old as a Christmas present. I still remember opening the box. Its value on the market would be next to nothing but that old acoustic is priceless to me. I still break it out once in a while and strum around on it. I don't do much gigging anymore but there are a few coffee shops around town that have open jams and once in a while I will go and sit in on those. It is mostly guitatist that go to these open jams and they are always happy to see a bassist show up.
Thanks for stopping by and remember that God is always with you wherever you may be.
