Outlaw Country and Southern Rock!
I have not played in a band for almost twenty years. I have the bug and I am jamming with some other 40 something guys into the same music I am. I am having a blast!!! I am into southern country and if you could here my bass, you would think I was a blues bass player. I have already used some of the blues lines from the lessons here in songs we play. BTW, THANK YOU ALL FOR SHARING!!!
1/3/07 UPDATE: Our band is sounding GREAT! As I have got to know every one, we are very laid back! No egos, no body is money hungry and we all like the same styles of music and playing. We were working on number 80 on our song list and our singers dad got very sick and he died a week ago. We lost three weeks in our effort to get ready for gigs. We are back at it this saturday and we will start booking in two weeks.
My equipment
I play an american deluxe Jazz bass by Fender. I have a SWR SM900 head with a two 10 cab and a one 15 cab. Both with horns(WOW, horns in bass cabs). I am very happy with the sound I am getting.
I use pure nickel strings and only good 14gage cables. No effects.
1/3/07 UPDATE: I sold my SM900 on ebay and bought a traynor YBA200 tube amp. WOW! One song and the entire band was in love with the tone and added sustain on the slow 1/2 and whole notes. I also ordered the Bassman 300 (sunn 300T) all tube amp, so I have a back up. I am now a tube only bass player. I still use my SWR speakers, and love them.
