Matthew Brown, Free-lancer, Teacher, Bass Lessons, Ma
Cape Cod And Worcester, Massachusetts
I'm a freelance bassist, and I also sing and play flute. I have a jazz duo with Rich Falco, jazz director at WPI, and I freelance with different groups. I also lead a jazz duo on Cape Cod, Matt Brown Jazz
I used to teach music privately at the Clemente Studio and at my own studio near Worcester State College, but I'm too busy playing these days. I do occasionally book individual lessons -- see Matt Brown Bass Lessons for more information.
A few years back, I had the chance to do some cruise ship work; I was contacted by Holland America to work on their ship, the Eurodam, on its maiden voyage.
I also had the good fortune to perform with Ray Price and his Breton band Trouz Bras --that's "Big Noise" (pronounced True Brazz). I also perform top 40, blues and R and B -- whatever comes along. Check out my lessons and articles at this site to get an idea of my approach. Here's are videos of my group; I'm playing my Azola Acoustic Baby Bass. Rich Falco and Matt from operations on Vimeo.
I Love All Kinds Of Music
I've always been interested in and played jazz, folk and bluegrass, but now that I play upright, I hope to include much more of these into my schedule. Here's a sample of my upright playing with Celtic band Trouz Bras, on a Breton song called Jump
I have three main instruments: an Azola 5-string acoustic Baby Bass, an Ibanez Roadstar 500 (a great, great cheap bass!), and a Godin A4 SA fretless. I'm rather fond of my smallest setup: An Ampeg Portabass 12 and GK amplifier.
