At last my turn
My father used to be a Tuba player, one of my uncles (on my mothers side) has been playing the bass in various bands since the early 70'ies, a cousin of my father is a professional (classical) double bass player...

I have been playing piano off and on for nearly 30 years and guitar for more than 20 years, but I've always wanted to go down to the bottom.

My turn!

In the summer 2004, I started to play together with my brother and my bass playing uncle, and after a while I borrowed his approx. 1970 MIU Fender jazz bass, and indeed, to play the bass was as fun and interesting as I thought, so I started to look for my own bass, and soon I came across the Morgan AB-05ce, shown at the picture together with my Alhambra C3 classical guitar from approx 1990 and an Ibanez 310TV that I once got from a friend who quit playing guitar. Later I've bought two second hand p-bass knockoffs. One Big Sound 1982 and one Cimar Electric Bass, the later was defretted as I bought it and is now strung with D'Addario Flatwound 050 - 105 strings. In 2006 I bought Thor Iversen's old Tech21 Landmark 60.

New amp and bass: Second hand Trace Elliot Commando 100W and a Barracuda Jazz bass copy, the later bought new in Quebec.

The technical parts

I have been interested in electronics since my early youth and music for as long as I can remember, also being a bass player personality, perfering being in the background doing the important jobs, it should not be any surprise that I have been working as a sound technician. My experience is running PA systems for a choir and a rock band and being a radio technician at a local radio station in Oslo for a number of years.

More on myself
In case anybody should care... I was born in Oslo, Norway, the year after Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was released. Now I am living in Drøbak, a small town at the fjord a bit south of Oslo, having two daughters, an old house and a quite big but not too well-kept garden.

I am working at the Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority among other things on overseeing dismantlement of old Russian nuclear subs. Having worked as a math teacher for a while, I apologize if that should show up during any fretbuzzions.

I also have a family Homepage (mainly) in Norwegian.

A jam session with my brother at a party:

To make sure the low end is kept down also in the future, my daughter has started to play cello:

When I'm having to little to do and no bass handy, I resort to image manipulation. For some reason, much of what I've done is bass-related
