Right, I picked up Bass in August 2005 after getting bored with clarinet playing... loved it and have been working hard since to get myself as good as possible. I'm currently in a four piece band called 'Retrofire' which plays some progressive funk metal rock hybrid (ie we haven't a clue what genre it is!) http://www.myspace.com/retrofire4. I've taught myself playing thrash metal, Jaco and chili peppers which probably accounts for the mish mash of styles. Since my music tastes incorporate extremes like Death metal (Arch Enemy, Opeth (best prog. band ever)) to jazz like Herbie Hancock, Victor Wooten etc. it's hardly surprising really.
