Welcome
Hi! I've been playing bass for around 20 years now. It seems like about 10 though cause I can't be THAT OLD!
I've been blesed to make a living at music for the past 11 years. To manage this I've tried to stay open to almost any style of music.
I've also learned to try and keep making small improvments all the time so I can keep moving forward and not get stale.
Gigs
My main group is called Filet of Soul we're based out of Dallas and have been together for 10 years. I've become the leader by attrition but it's been a great learning experience.
I host several jams around town and enjoy jamming with players of all styles. Blues, Jazz and Funk are the main styles but I've recently been getting the chance to try my hand at some Latin music which is a real blast to play with the right drummer.
Subbing for other bassists is another way I stay busy and one of the scariest at first. I enjoy it quite a bit now and wish I had time to do it more. It's such a great feeling to work with new combinations of players in different settings.
I've been teaching now for many years and really enjoy passing on my experiences with up and comers and old timers alike. Trying to explain musical concepts to others has helped me understand what's going on even better.
