Who is this chump?!!
Hi! I'm a 22 year old electric bass player from Edmonton, CANADA. I have played the bass for about 10 years. I have always loved music and at age 12 I started playing the guitar. I enjoyed the guitar but when my older brother brought his friend's bass home for a day I knew that I had to play that instrument. The strings were so thick and powerful and the sound was like a thunderclap. From then on I played mostly by myself along with Black Sabbath and Metallica tapes but I eventually wound up in a blues band for a short time which actually got to the finals in a province-wide talent search. We didn't win, but the dancers who did knew just what part of their body to shake in order to get the judges attention. A few years later I was suckered into my music teacher's jazz combo and then really started to get into it. I have now graduated from the music program at Grant MacEwan College here in Edmonton as a performance major. My big dream is to share my musical gift in a positive way with as many people on this planet as possible, and provide for myself, my supermodel wife and our future NHL superstar children. A few years back I suffered a repetitive strain injury from practicing too long without proper warmup and breaks. If anyone out there suffers pain, numbness, or loss of proper motor functions from playing I strongly urge people to get regular massage, wear comfortable and if possible dual-shoulder straps, investigate proper posture, and inform yourself about Active Release Techniques if you are experiencing pain. It is 96% effective for carpal/cubital tunnel syndromes and very good with tendonitis injuries. Check it out!
My Musical Aspirations
I would be a happy man if I could make my living playing music. I would like to be involved in a lot of different projects and perhaps music realted businesses such as a studio or school but I would really love to be a member of a kick a-- band that I could be involved in the writing. Hey wait a minute......I AM!!! I'm actually in what I would call my dream band. We are a hard rock group called Tupelo Honey (www.tupelohoney.ca) and we have played at Stage 13 (giant rock festival with 20,000 attendance) to an audience of thousands. IT was a blast!!!!!! Over the latter half of 2003 we are working on preproduction for a full length album that will cost us HUGE, but will more then likely get us label support. Horray for debt!!! Other then worldwide fame and sexual exploits that would rival Hugh Hefner's weekend getaways, I would really just love to be able to play great songs that make people feel good. I love nothing more then being so inside a song that I forget everything that could concievably be a problem in the world.
