Fender American Standard Precision V

5-String Bass

Made by Fender

Description The classic American Standard P-bass gets an extra string and she is glorious! Nothing changes other than an extra string, a sturdier bridge and an extra tuner on the underside of the headstock.

I looked at American Standard Jazz basses as well, but I have a Schecter Model T with jazz pups on her (so if I need growl, I will just use her) and I wanted the classic thump you get from a Precision . . .
Model Year: 2009
Price: $850.00
Where Obtained: Ebay
Features:
A Made In America Fender that has the typical Alder body, maple neck and 20 Medium Jumbo frets. She is a passive (electronics). Pickups are your standard P-bass with the BEA pickup elongated to accomodate that extra string. Finish: black with maple neck/fretboard. Bridge: 5-String HMV, High Mass Vintage, (Strings-Thru-Body or Top-load).
Playability:
Excellent playability. The neck is not massive and the weight is significantly less than most other 5 strings. The neck does not dive. Excellent P-bass thump.
Sound Quality:
I use Markbass CMD121 with a Markbass 1x12 Travelers extension. I can play anything from punk to country with this classic p-bass. She thumps mightily and she looks great!
Durability:
The bass is only a year old, but she is made for the long haul. She is surprisingly light, but sturdy. All hardware is heavy-duty.
