Markbass CMD 121P

500W Combo (1 x 1")

Made by Markbass

Description This model is the smallest 1x12 that MarkBass offers. Very light-weight, but built like a tank. Loud enough for small to medium sized venues. Easy on the back too :)

I wanted something powerful, yet light-weight for the small to medium sized venues my band plays in. There are not a lot of products that could meet these two simple requirements: but MarkBass could. It was simply a matter of being able to afford it. This will be my playing standard for at least another decade and would easily buy it again. Looking into getting the extension cab (1x12) that is made to go with it.
Model Year: 2009
Price: $649.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Guitar Center
Features:
Feature config is as follows from left to right: input jack; gain; low; mid-low; mid-high; high; VLE; VPF; Master. - It does have an effects loop and a tuner-out. - 500 watts @ 4 ohms and 300 watts @ 8 ohms. - Solid state.
Sound Quality:
I don't really use fx anymore (live), but I tool around with a chorus, phlanger, and compression pedal sometimes. Sounds great either way. I am currently playing in a band that plays Americana, blues, country, rockabilly. It handles these quite easily. I love playing punk as well and it has no problem with loud and fast either. The sound is very clear and crisp and it sounds way better than my Ashdowns, Avatars, Carvins, and Peaveys from the past - but the technology is also better now, too!
Ease of Use:
The amp is very easy to use (which I like). It offers just a bit more than my Ashdowns that I have owned (MAGs) and sound way better. The only things is that the back of the amp is hard to get to due to the way the combo is configurated: You have to lift the combo up (or tilt it completely to one side) just to get to the FX in/outs and the Tuner-out. A flashlight comes in handy for this as well. That is the only inconvenience I see (but it can't be helped and the inconvenience is minimal cause the combo only weighs 29 Lbs!)
Durability:
I've only had it for 3 months so far, but I've been using it steadily for gigging and it is holding up well. I bought a custom-made cover for it to keep her dry n warm, so I'm ready for anything. The grill is sturdy/strong and the construction appears (and feels) heavy-duty.
