I looked at other basses and chose carefully because i wanted to choose only once and have only one instrument. the BB NE2 simply blew all the competition away for quality, tone, features and value for money. I can't think of anything to improve this instrument except maybe if it came with a better quality case. i would certainly replace it with another if it were stolen or lost.
Model Year: 2006
Where Obtained: Guitar store in the U.K.
This is made in Japan, a colaboration between Yamaha and Nathan East. contructed from the highest quality materials. Ebony fretboard, maple and alder for the body and neck. 24 frets and 5 strings, thru-neck. has parametric eq giving flexibility, is active with 2 alnico pickups. it comes in white or black, 5 or six string. body style is Mr East's design as is the eq. th tuners are white and the hardware is gold. looks so cool!
The action and set-up on the East bass is perfect, with a nice-sized neck. it is so smooth to play and everyone who has played it has fallen in love with it immediately! it has no flaws that i am aware of and i have never heard of any except peerhaps for the price!
This instrument provides all the varying tones that i could ever need, from pop/rock thru to jazz blues and anywhere in between. the sound is very full, deep and warm but it is also excellent for slap/popping. i sold my overwater progress deluxe 6 because i am so happy with the East bass. this is my only bass now. i use this bass for different styles with an EBS HD350 head and two EBS Neo 1x12 cabs. the head is racked with a Korg DT200 tuner. it is never noisy, and i would not make any changes except replacing strings.
I bought this bass in 2006 and have not had to make any adjustments to it. it seems to be very durable and reliable, and the tuning is amazing; even in the crazy Scottish climate! The only thing you have to watch with this bass is that it eats 9v batteries if you leave the 1/4" jack plugged into the instrument for hours at a time; but maybe that's normal, i dunno!
