I played a jazz bass earlier this year and fell in love with them. I had only really messed with them before then but this was a well used one for recording. It gave a wonderful sound and wasnt even anything special. I remember playing my dad's 64' p-bass and knew I wanted an old one. However, after some searching I wasnt happy with any. I decided since I had cash to spare to blow it all on a brand new custom fender! Definately money well spent and I cant see me wanting another for a very long time. The only trouble I have with it is I dont wanna become too precious about it with it being so amazing and perfect and so on. I wouldnt suggest playing one at that bar in that movie Roadhouse put it that way.

This was made at Fender's custom shop in California. It is perfectly made and combines new and old very nicely. It has the active electronics of a deluxe jazz, takes 2 9 volt batteries, has pearl inlays on the reosewood fingerboard, has standard noiseless pickups, has thru-body stringing and is all round a beautiful example of a jazz bass. It has a slightly deeper cut-away on the sunburst body and a slightly thinner waist compared to a normal jazz. It has nice big chunky tuners and has21 frets. It comes new with a certificate and all the usual bits and bobs. Also comes in a great black leather case with chrome bits.
This bass was setup very nicely when I got it and I have not felt the need to change it. It has a low action which suits me. The playability is my favourite thing with this bass. It is perfectly accessible and just feels right. The neck is silky smooth and the finish is immaculate. I have felt more at home at the lower end of the neck but with this bass it feels like you can play anywhere any time you wish.
I am yet to play this bass through my proper amp. I have been using a practise amp and headphones. Despite this it is by far the best sounding bass ive ever played. The active electronics offer heaps of options without overwhelming the player with different choices. It is really easy to get a sound to fit any style. The pickups are excellent with any settings applied.
As you might understand, i've only just got this bass brand new and I have treated it like a baby! So far everything's been absolutely fine, just changed the strings and gave it a bit of a clean with some lemon-oil. I have no doubt it will live many years longer than me!
