I chose this bass primarily for the price, and the features, hoping to get good bang for the buck. I do think it is a good value. I would consider buying this bass again. It could be better without that neck joint near the headstock, and with a better nut. My favorite thing about it so far, is the sound and feel. The thing I dislike most about it, is that joint near the headstock. It is a toss-up between that, and that the volume control is wired opposite of what I am used to: you turn it counter-clockwise to bring up the volume.

Made in Korea, body is alder with quilt veneer on it and headstock, neck is one piece maple with a joint near the headstock, 24 frets, 5 strings tuned B,E,A,D,G.
Volume, blend, bass and treble cut/boost controls, pull up tap for passive operation on volume control. Two pickups, have to guess they are humbuckers, set in such a way so that it is conducive for slap and a wide tonal range. Electronics are active and passive option, natural finish, body is roughly a small P-bass shape sort of, strings through the body, hardware manufacterers unknown, as with the pickups. Plastic nut, non-locking machine heads, could be Gotohs.
The action is actually a bit low for my tastes, but it feels pretty good, adjusting to a 35" scale will take a bit of time, I cannot really compare it to any other basses, as I have never had a rosewood fretboard or a 35" scale neck. Flaws I have discovered so far, are that there are 3 very small nicks on the back of the body, a small area on the body face that is not sanded totally smooth, there is a joint near the headstock on the maple neck, so I would surmise that if it ever took a dive backwards, the neck would not survive, could be wrong. The truss adjustment at the headstock is a bit tight, and an awfully small, to me, allen wrench is to be used on it. Overall, it plays nicely as it is currently set-up, although I will change it a bit for intonation and action. It has a lively kind of feel to it, and that may be because I have always had ebony or maple fretboards. It is reasonably responsive to different dynamics. If the back of the neck has tung oil on it, I cannot tell at all, so I may apply some at a later date. The heel is an issue for playing way up the neck, and this is the first bolt-on I have had since I was 16. So, it will take a bit of getting used to. Update: 4/22/2007- It was suggested I try a new set of strings to see if that solves the intonation problem, so Rondo Music is sending some soon, and I will report on this later. Rondo suggested that the strings it came with may be defective. Update: 4/28/2007- The new strings came, and much to my skepticism, they solved the intonation issue. Rondo music is a good company to deal with, and Kurt has been very good about responding to emails.
I use Carvin amps, and just a compresser, and chorus sometimes. Mostly I play rock/funk/experimental things and mostly what I compose. This bass seems to be suited for a variety of styles, but, if you are used to high-end custom neck throughs, you may not like it much. The sound is full, and somewhat warm, and with the e.q. adjusted just right, it gets a bit of a growl, but not as much as my other basses used to. I am considering either a teflon/graphite, or bone nut for it in the future. I do not play out live currently, and live in an apartment, so honestly, I cannot tell you if at high gain it is noisey or not. At low levels here in my place, it seems to be very quiet and shielded well enough. I think it might be best suited for what I do these days: home recording. But, it may be good for all kinds of environments and situations.
