I almost bought this bass, but my teacher told me to get the thinline 3/4 bass instead. that was a mistake. For the money, this is a real bargin. No more lugging heavy instruments no more flaring tendonius flaring in my right shoulder, just a light EUB that has a big sound. Other than the nature of piezo's this bass is great. If you are lookign for a great jazz instrument thats light and portable, and has a great sound for less than a thousand than this is your bass. If you are a string snob who looks down onm EUB or an intrument that is not build to tradition, than I don't recommend it, go somewhere else.

Made in the USA by a great luither Jesse Blue,Honduras Mahogany, 42 scale length, fret markers. 5 strings tuned E-A-D-G-C. One volume control pot, a David Gage-like piezo pickup under a super low bridge. Nice simple finish and gotoch tuners.
This bass is super easy to play. Its basicly a upright with no body, just a neck, so jumping around the fretboard is a breeze, and you don't even have to use your thumb in thumb position. Neck is nice and chunky (its a 5 string), I paid 1700 for a thin bodied 3/4 size upright bass, and this EUB that is almost half that much blows it away! This is not like play a $5000 instrument but for under 1 large it plays better than any s---ty cremona, englehart plywood bass hands down.
I use a Roland Cube 100, with my Ergo, I play just about everything, but I am mainly a jazz/fusion cat, and this axe makes my job 10x easier. Nice woody warm upright tone. My only beef with the tone is the piezo. Most piezo pickups need either a buffer or a preamp to make the instrument sound even. Piezos have a high impedance, and due to this make most basses sound uneven. A $50 piezo buffer or a preamp takes care of the issue, but hey with a price tag like this one you can swing it no problem. Also I think jesse ships these basses with some so so strings so a string up-grade is also called for. Oh sounds great bowed as well, just like a realist (thats what I have on my other bass.)
Its a neck with strings on a cymbol stand, simple tough and beautiful.
