Fender Rumble 60

60W Combo (1 x 1")

Made by Fender

Description The Fender Rumble series is relatively new, only a few years old. The Rumble 60 is great for smaller shows or practice. All basics, not a lot of bells and whistles. A good first amp.

Fender goofed on this one! In this price range you don't have much choice in the quality department. You can get a Rumble, a Crate BT 50 {Which im going to try next}, a Slop Behrenger, or a so-so Ampeg thats noisy. Peavey has the Max Series 40 watt 1x12, but when I tryed the 1x15 version it was woofing out so I nixed them. GC doesn't carry SWR no more or I would have went with the LA 12. At one time you could have got a good amp in this price range. Ex.- Peavey Basic 12 and the Fender BXR 60. Now it Hit-Or-Miss.
Model Year: 2007
Price: $249.95 (new)
Where Obtained: GC
Features:
60watt 1x12 standard combo. 4 band parametric eq, passive and active inputs, mid scoop switch.
Sound Quality:
Here where it suprised me. I owned a BXR 60 in the past and it Rocked! It was plenty loud and had good bottom and punch. This Rumble 60 is nothing like it! Hardly any bottom with the bass knob almost maxxed, and weak punch. The speaker also would break up slightly when you played upper register high notes. Bad, weak, speaker. If it had an Eminence speaker like my Bassman 150 it probably would have been ok.
Ease of Use:
Simple and sweet but the sound sucked!
Durability:
The speaker would have blown within two weeks!

This is probably the best amp for this price range. Very simple, straight-forward features. I used it for shows for a long time, but now it's my practice amp. If it were lost or stolen, I'd buy another one, but I'd probably get the Rumble 25 instead. I'd rather have something a littler smaller for practice. I just wish the line-out was XLR like on the Rumble 100.
Model Year: 2003
Price: $245.00 (new)
Where Obtained: George's Music
Features:
60 Watts through a Fender custom 12" driver.
Active and passive inputs.
4-band EQ with mid-scoop switch.
Effects loop, 1/4" line out, headphone jack, RCA inputs.
Pulsing lights on bottom.
Sound Quality:
Fat, punchy Fender sound. Pairs great with a Precision or Jazz bass. I use it with a Steinberger XZ-2 and a Fender Highway One Jazz and it sounds nice. The mid-scoop cleans it up a lot if you're looking for a warmer sound. Fairly versatile with its 4-band EQ.
Ease of Use:
Very straight-forward. No bells and whistles here. You have the mid-scoop if you want a warmer sound, but that's about it. There's no seperate pre-gain, so you're only working off of the master volume. Very simple, but the cool lights on the bottom make it seem really flashy.
Durability:
I've had it for four years now and the only problem I've had was the line-out jack breaking, but it was from me dropping it face-first on the ground. I've moved on to a bigger amp, but I still love this one for practice.
