This book is just what I have been looking for since my groove started feeling a little stale. The 575 measure Groove Apex exercise in this book is intense, however it is extremely helpful in allowing a person to use his/her creativity and really internalize the exercise. The CD is great (I don't necessarily care for Patrick's tone, but I can't be that nit-picky). I would have liked to have a chapter that shows how grooves can be inserted inside of a song more effectively, but the absence of this chapter doesn't affect my appreciation for the book. I really enjoyed the comparison of the different styles of "the greats" like Jaco Pastorius, James Jamerson, Donald "Duck" Dunn, etc. I enjoyed Bass Guitar For Dummies, but this book is even more applicable to where I'm at as a player.
Suitable for intermediate bassists
