I already own a Digitec B200 multi-effects pedal with tuner and drum
machine. It's a wonderful unit with many presets which are easy to tweak to
taste. Still it doesn't have direct out which the Hartke does - and the
harmonics and tone shape control on the Bass Attack are more to my liking
and do a better job of emulating a tube amp sound. It would be nice if an
AC adapter was included - but for seventy bucks the thing is a great value
and I'd certainly replace it if it were lost of stolen

The harmonic boost gives a wonderful tube presence to the signal. I have
used it with my OLP MM2 - licensed copy of Music Man stingray. I have
also used it with a Carvin fretless also with a bolt on neck. My amp is a
Beringer BX1200 - 120 watt combo. Both basses have passive pickups.
Right away you notice how much louder and richer the tone. As you
increase the level of harmonic boost the tone warms up predictably and
at high levels one obtains that overdriven tube effect and a some
feedback if you get too close to the amp. I can get almost the exact
sound in the bass line to "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Stones and "My
Generation" by The Who
Very easy to used. Play around with it for a while and you quickly learn the
controls.
It's built like a tank. Solid aluminum housing. I have only owned it a month
so it's hard to say what will happen but it appear very solid.
