Being a bassist for quite a while, I picked this book up on a whim to see if it could give me an in depth look at bass theory. It's brilliant, I thought I'd be gruelling for weeks trying to handle new ideas, but Patrick Pfeiffer explains them brilliantly. This is the perfect book for someone just starting out on the bass guitar or even if you have some experience of playing the bass this book could still be very useful to you. The book shows you how to tune your bass, play scales, play solos and even helps you to create your own bass lines. It's so easy to follow with help from easy to follow diagrams and Patrick Pfeiffer's advice. If you are ever unsure about how something should sound just listen to the CD.If you are serious about playing bass I can't recommend this book enough.

This book is an instructional/reference book. Covering topics from hand positions to how to maintain your bass and tips on purchasing a new one. Written in language that anyone can understand. The lessons are straight forward and very helpful. Comes with an audio CD covering all the lessons. The book covers a wide range of playing stills and techniques. By far the most complete instructional/reference book that I have found so far. I only wish I could have had a copy when I first started playing. I would STRONGLY recommend this book to anyone considering playing the bass, and if you already play there is NO reason why you shouldnt own a copy. :)th
