Overall Rating:

Chosen for it's price, instead of getting the Tech21 it "emulates".
Price: $55.00 Cdn (new)
Where Obtained: Sobers Music, Charlottetown PEI
Features:

Anything I wish it had? Functionality; it makes NO diffrence to the sound.
Sound Quality:

Sound quality is hard to judge. It never worked.
Adds a bit of hiss. Not much.
Looks easy enough to figure out.
Durability:

Durable? It didn't work ever.
This thing is hard to beat for that price.
I couldn't compare it to a (much more expensve) SansAmp but for my purpose and waller it's perfect.

It's basically a SansAmp Bass Driver rip-off made in China:
The unit can either be used as a D.I. box or a "bass amp modeller".
It can be powered by a 9V battery or an optional AC adapter.
There are 5 knobs to help you shape your bass tone:
Drive, Treble, Bass, (output) Level, Presence and Blend (mixes the original signal with the enhanced one). They work pretty good although having an additional Mid control knob would be even better.
I've played and liked it with my 3 basses:
90s Ibanez soundgear 6 string (active)
Aria Pro II (active)
Jazz copy with Bartolini singlecoils (passive)
I have only used it for home recording a couple of times yet.
The case is made of plastic but it makes a solid impression.
A friend has a sans amp and in my opinion the sound is almost the same the sansamp throws more volume at the output but at the same level they sound the same
i nothet that the bdi has more midrange and the low end is clearer than the sans at any output i think it will be better if it will be all metal instead of plastic but you can have a ticket to heaven for just $30 the unit is ok i recomend it

It is mainly a DI with active electronic and an analog tube emuator. Battery or ac powered (ac adapter optional) it has a drive, a level and a blend knob it also has low hihg and presence eq controls and a ground lift switch.
The sound quality is good very low hiss except when it distorts at high volume but it pasess as part of the effect i use it with my bass my amp as a monitor and a mixer with 1600watts as mains the DI is clear and it gave me a distiguish warm sound y play heavy metal , latin jazz, and it is so simple that you can adjust it to easly adapt to any style. the drive is supposed to control the tube emulation and it needs a lot of power to be heared clear (my 50w am distorts when i use it full but the mains remain undistorted) i think it is because of input overload. the sound is pretty good it upgrades my sound to a more muscular low end and a distinguish midrange that gave me the looks of a good bassist with a more expensive equipment
This thing is a simplicity it sound good anyway or adapt to any style with the turn of a few knobs also provides you with a DI out a highly apreciated feature
It is a behringer but i think it will gave me years of good use you can use it a lot with the same battery (i have used it 3 practice sesions of 3 hours each with the same battery and it is still with enough charge the unit is havy it has a heavy metal plate base for stability i suppose an a plastic body it is not a hard used unit on playing you just adjust it and turn it on and you can be in the same setting for hours so i think it wont get a lot of abuse .
