I love this bass. if it was stolen i wouldnt think twice about getting another or any spector for that matter he makes beautiful guitars. it couldnt be any better for me. it is a bit bulky but everything else is perfect
Price: $870.95 australian (new)
Where Obtained: bam bam music
Features:
This very beautiful bass was made in U.S of A. This is a legend 5 string with 24 frets. It has 3 cotrols volume, tone and tone. it has 2 H/H configiration pick ups. The pick ups are EMG-SSD passive electronics. it has a very sexy black cherry gloss
Playability:
This bass plays like a dream. its pefect for my rock/metal style to my funk/blues style. To only flaw is that it is a bit bulky.
Sound Quality:
I use a fender bassman with a FAB distortion pedal. it fits all styles its perfect from funk to metal the sound is only second to a 60's fender jazz bass. i found that if you want that perfect sound its better on large stage with a marshall stack behind you.
Durability:
It is very reliable. ive had mine for almost a year and all i did was adjust to my settings once. hardware is holding perfectly the only change to the hardware i made was changing the controls to make to it look cool nothing wrong with it at all

Overall, I think the bass is comfortable and easy to play. The only complaint I have is the electronics. I doubt I will purchase anything from Spector again because of their failure to address the issue even though the bass was still under warranty.

Future plans for this bass include a Bartolini make-over. I have purchased a Bartolini pre-amp and have plans to install new pickups far in the future. Both will happen at a later date when funds are better.
Model Year: 2005
Price: $520.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Abe Music; Miami, FL
Features:
This Korean made Spector has a basswood body with a quilted maple veneer, hardrock maple, 3pc, 35" scale, with 24 frets. The controls are as follows; independent volume for each passive pickup, stacked treble/bass knob, and a mid cut/boost. The pickups are EMGHz passives and the electronics are said to be EMG active tone circut.

The body is the classic carved Spector shape that most of us are familiar with. It comes with the Spector locking bridge. No string through option is on this particular bass. I added Dunlop Strap locks immediately after purchasing this bass.

Playability:
The bass plays well. The neck has a great taper and fits my hands well. It feels a little long due to the 35" scale, but I adapted quickly to the difference in scale length.
Sound Quality:
Played through an old Peavey TKO 80, the bass had a very traditional sound. Scooping the mids produced a very usable slap tone that wasn't harsh. The only drawback I could find in the sound was a persistent buzzing sound due to an electronic issue. It was not a typical 60 cycle hum, but apparently it was some sort of manufacturing problem. I could not find a quick rememdy and it was noisy during gigs which created a big problem.
Durability:
For live playing, I think the bass is plenty durable. Like I said earlier, the electronics problem made playing live more of a chore. The issue was finally traced to the stacked tone knob. The small treble knob was the source of the "frying bacon" sound. The neck and tuning seemed to hold up well with temperature changes.
