Peavey Millennium BXP 4 String

Electric Fretted 4-String Bass

Made by Peavey

Description Played this Bass in a store in New York. Really liked the sound and the narrow satin finish neck. I bought it through Musicians Friend for a lot less ($199). I have been very happy and have been using it consistently the past 6 months.

Price: $240.00 (new)

Ill start off by saying this is a well made 34in scale Bass for the price. I has a Maple neck with a rose wood fretboard and carvin style tuners. the body is a jazz style made of basswood with a quilted top finish. It also has a string through boby/bridge. The pickups (j) and electronics (Vol-Vol-Tone) are passive and are OK.
Playability:
I never found a cosmetic flaw at all. The neck feels and plays like my spector but even thinner.
Sound Quality:
It sounds pretty good and very quiet jacked into my GK pre, Mackie amp and Carvin cabs. Good MidLows. im Changing Pups and electronics to EMGs pups and Aguilar electronics.
Durability:
When i got it home all i did was put on stap locks and started jamming. Using it as my live Bass now.

This bass had a very good feel to it. I kinda was drawn to it like a magnet, because I could imagine myself on stage with it. I look good with it, and the sound it produces is increadable for a -$300.00 bass. If I lost this bass, I would defidently consider repurchasing it. The only thing that notably should be improved it the fact that it drains alot of battery power. It is somewhat suitable for all music types, but mainly rock. It has a lack of that 'buzed on buzzed' sensation that you get with a jazz bass, but its not too bad. It's worth the purchase if you can afford the batteries.
Model Year: 2004
Price: $270.00 (new)

Features:
It was made by Peavey. The body is a lightweight wood. It has four strings. It has Volume Mid Treble and two others. It's got two black pickups w/ active electronics. It's got a shiny black paint job. It's a string through body.
Playability:
I can get a punk and funk feel, but there are still much better funk basses out there. The neck is smoothe and well prepared, I barely notice there is one! I haven't found anything wrong with it (Thank God!)
Sound Quality:
I use a bassbug amp, and it sounds great... I play punk and hardcore, and it looks, feels, and sounds great. I practice lots of funk which heavily uses slapping and popping, and it still is great sounding. It has a warm, yet somewhat dark feel to it. It is great compared to a Les Paul (Copy by Epiphone) One of the great things, is that it doesn't buzz alot (unless you put overdrive on!)
Durability:
It is reliable, but it has active electronics, so it could die on you :(. But always carry an extra pair of heavy duty alkanine 9V batteries, and you'll be good! I found that the truss rod was alittle too tight, butI think that was due to lack of inspection... The external and internal hardware is really durable, haven't had any problems!

I am a bass player on a budget. I had a top end of around $400 bucks or so. I promise this is the truth: I went to every music store in St. Louis (and some out of town) and almost every pawn shop. I kept track and I test played 48 different basses. You name it, I played it. I test drove the Mil BXP early on and it quickly became the benchmark for all the rest of the basses. Finally buying day arrived and my choice was still the Mil BXP. I did one last internet search and found Morrison Brothers with it at 179. Bingo. I made the buy and I am happy camper
Model Year: 2005
Price: $179.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Morrison Bros.
Features:
Made in Indonesia. (Box says Made in USA - ???) J style pickups with Tiger Eye finish. Two vol and tone controls. Passive. String-thru bridge. Very good fit and finish.
Playability:
I only played this bass one time at a store and liked it then. It has surpased my expectations. Only a little lighter than my old bass but feels less cumbersome and heavy due to longer top horn makeing for a more balanced fit. I have read many reviews and every one of them comments about the fretboard and how fast and free it feels. All true. Effortless. Much less pressure needed to fret the note well. Morrison Bros did a set up at their shop before shipping to me. Good right out of the box. Mucho comfortable = great playing and feel.
Sound Quality:
I play on a Behringer bx1200 practice amp and go direct for gigging. No problem. Sounds very good. I play AC and rock Christian music, with a little blues thrown in. The tone control is extremely wide ranging and it's all good. See overall opinion for more.
Durability:
Too soon but I am not expecting any problems.
