Discussions with my fellow Rickenbacker forum members sold me on this pedal. These pedals are relativley new & I think that you will see many people using these in the near future. A SansAmp for 1/2 the price!
Model Year: 2004
Price: $89.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Music Wonderland
Features:
I do agree with the other reviewer - you can't really see the indicators on the knobs in a dim light situation. LED, or even maybe something as simple as white dots would have helped. AC or battery powered, your choice.
Sound Quality:
I initially bought this as a distortion unit & was quite disappointed. That was my mistake as this is really designed as a SansAmp/tube preamp type device. For that application this unit is great. For distortion, I now use the tube drive on my head in conjunction with this. I mostly purchased this for use with a Rickenbacker 4003. (I also use it with a Rick 3001, Fender Jazz & Gibson T-Bird). It really fattens up the Rick tone. "Fat Clank" - Rick players will know what that means! All of this through a Yorkville Bassmaster 400 head w/ matching XC115 cab as well as a old FenderBXR 4x10 cab.
Ease of Use:
Not programmable, but that's why it's under $100. Great presets - I use a slightly modified version of the "Bassman" setting. (Their version of an Ampeg SVT I believe.) Also can be used as a DI box complete with phantom power. I do wish that it had a bypass, but it actually sounds so good I can't really b---- about leaving it on all of the time.
Durability:
Heavy/solid/seemingly indestructible.

They could have made the knobs light up or at least easy to see under dark lighting conditions - I had to buy some glow-in-the-dark gel to put on the knobs sO I can adjust the setting on the stage
Model Year: 2004
Price: $110.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Blues Boy Music
Features:
7 knobs and two switches on the front:Harmonics (Amount of Tube Emulation), Mix(Balance between Dry and Effected Signal), Shape(Adjusts the Hartke One-Knob eq circuit), Level(Overal output volume) (Top Row) Bass, Treble, and Brite(adjusts extreme high frequencies) (Bottom Row) Shape Switch and On/Off Switch.
Sound Quality:
This unit sounds unreal no matter what bass or amp set-up I use. I almost bought a sansamp RBI (Rackmount) but I got this pedal for less than half the price!
Ease of Use:
Hmmm. Click on Shape Button to engaged Hartke's Shape Circuitry, on/off switched on/off the Harmonics and Brite Controls.
Durability:
This thing is made of metal so it's really tough.
