I was thinking about getting a Rockbass but that would have been a meer copy. The Yamaha is in a class of its own and will be more likely the bass that is copied
Model Year: 2004
Price: $699.00 UK pounds (new)
Where Obtained: House of Guitars,London
Features:
Having been a 4 string player for so long, as most of us are, the first thing you say to yourself is How am I going to play that huge monster of a 5 string. Well its surprising how light this bass is.Alder is a light weight wood but still has very good resonant characteristics.I've never been a big fan of natural wood finishes but the beautiful quilted maple top won me over on this bass. The body has a high gloss finish. The neck is a satin type finish again a change from my other bass (painted) but I,m getting used to it already and as for the width its very comfortable and not too much of a stretch.Overall build quality(made in Korea)is excellent there are no flaws in the finish and the construction is sound. Controls are easily reached Master Vol. closest then P/Up blend and bass, mid.and treble active tone controls underneath in a row all are centre notched except volume.Pickups are Alnico soapbar hum cancelling in the neck and bridge configuration. There is an incredible amount of tone boost or cut with these active circuits so whatever sound you like you will probably find it here with a bit of trial and error, but you can play safe like me and leave them in the middle for now and still achieve a very good usable tone.

Built like tank very steady and I bet it can handle a few knocks which I'm sure it will suffer
