I bought this bass because I was offered a great deal on it. Now I never want to part with it. I may have placed a lot of sentimental value on it, but I have played many other basses and none feel as good to me as this Jazz Bass. If I lost it I would first of all try to find the same one again, and, if not, I would definitely try to find another one like it (thought I would miss all of my little aesthetic customizations!).
My favourite thing about this bass is its versatility. While I do have my favourite settings on it, if I need to change them up, I can get such a wide variety of sounds out of it that I can play any styles I want.
An amazing instrument.

This bass was made in Japan, maple body and neck with a rosewood fingerboard. 22 frets, 3 strings. Two volume knobs (for each pickup) as well as a tone knob and a three way toggle to select between pickups (jazz, precision, or both). Active electronics-- mine has EMGs which were added later, i believe.
This bass came with a purply pink finish, which has subsequently been painted over (three times now) and is now a beautiful redfire clearcoat. I've also replaced the stock knobs with nice chrome ones, and a chrome bridge to replace the standard Fender Bass bridge (which came in black). Came with Fender tuners, the big elephant-ear ones, also black.
This bass feels like home. I think the neck could use a bit of adjustment-- it may be slightly warped-- probably a result of temperature changes (it used to call a place where -30 weather was common in the winter home).
It was one of the nicest basses I have ever played. The only thing that stops it from getting a 5 star rating in this department is some bad fret buzz on the D string at around the 15th fret. However, this is likely due to the aforemnetioned neck issue.
My main amp is a Fender BXR 100 and this bass goes with it very well. The active pickups and combination of Jazz and Precision orientations give this bass an amazing range of sound. It can be quite dark, extremely bright, and anywhere in between. It works great in any style. I've used it for jazz, big band, alternative, and a little bit of funk.
The only modifications I have felt the need to make are aesthetic ones. The pickups (EMGs) don't make a sound at all-- perfectly silent.
This thing is a rock. It never goes out of tune, and it has been banged around once or twice (being in a high school band unfortunately leads to such things).
The worse incident it has ever had was having the head smashed into a wall, face first (it wasn't me!). That put it out of tune but today you can't even notice any lasting effects.
