The album is definitely different than those of the past and that's quite fine with me. I don't always listen to the music to get the feel for an album. A lot of the lyrics of this album speak to me, really hit home if you will. My favorite aspect of this album is they said f*** all and did what they wanted to but yet they still get bagged on for being band wagon jumpers. If that's the case, they need to stop playing their instruments and rehash the same music into every song. Take a listen to some of the artists today, there are very few of them that are talented .. Anyways, back to St. Anger , the worst thing on this album has to be Bob Rock. The bass lines aren't that special to me, the prowless of the bass just isn't there on this album. And the thing I'd definitely like to let people know about this album is that Robert Trujillo did not play on this album, the dvd yes but those are Bob Rock's bass lines. So, you can't judge his playing based off of St.Anger, if you're gonna complain about the bass player for Metallica, please wait until he's actually done some work with them..

This is a decent Metallica cd, there are some really good songs, others just seem to go on forever. It's also missing all of the guitar solos, which i was dissapointed at.

You know there's a lot of difference between this thing and the past metallica stuff.they've changed their music into something like nu metal.sometimes when you listen to this, you feel like fear factory, korn or system of a down may be(LOL)not necessarily the same, but this thing is not really metallica in the way we use to hear.the album has no solo guitars, and the recording and guitar and drum sounds are totally different than the rest of their stuff.personally i hate the way that snare drum sounds(you gotta check it out to see what i mean) i only loved it in the st.anger(the 2nd song, which is my favorite),and the rest of the stuff sounds full of noise.any way i want to see what they'd do next! basswisw it's not a great album either.their producer(Bob Rock)did the most of the bass lines before rob joined the band.so you don't expect to hear great bass lines in it
