Preamp gain control, contour, mid shift control, speaker protection,normal/bright switch,160 watts!!! and loving it!solid state electronics
I play a steinberger through it. i play classic rock and pop and yes this amp fits indeed. i have power for miles. my old equipment was muddy and lacked power. this new amp has power but more importantly definition and clarity. quiet as a mouse when not playing. slight buzz going on though. might be my bass, my wiring sometimes leaves alot to be desired.when i turn up the pre gain i can get some overdrive tones reminiscent of early rush and geddy lee. i'm only running a 2x10 cabinet with it right now but it seems to be doing fine. lots of low end and very articulate. slap and pop with this amp is a dream! sounds wonderful!
Not much fiddling to get good sound. last night was my 1st gig with this new amp. by the second song of 1st set i had my sound dialed in and the ease of controls makes tweaking on the fly a breeze. other amp had controls in back, which was very hard to get to let alone see what you are doing in a dark club, what a nightmare!
As for durability, pretty good i'd say.would have been nice if peavey would have included feet and a handle on the side instead of top of case. side is a much more natural carrying position. its ok though i had an extra handle and feet so i did it myself.peavey still makes this head under a different name but same thing.its called "max bass 160".would be interesting to see if they fixed the feet handle thing on new ones.unit is also rackmountable, which is handy.make sure you give it alot of space to breath. if you drive it hard like i do mine it tends to get a bit warm.
Nothing like it for the price, even at full MSRP. It is very light and manageable for carrying. I could use some more power (There's no substitute for cubic inches). About 250 watts would be about nice but it can kick it out pretty good with a 4ohm cabinet. For what it offers at the price, it is a very good value. Should be seriously considered.

Single Channel, tuner out, preamp in/out, effects loop, contour control (unknown frequency effect), bass, parametric midrange and treble adjustment, speaker protection, balanced output which the sound man likes. More than enough features for effective live use.
Sound is good, not a really big and punchy Ampeg rock sound, but leans toward the clean and articulate, tends toward the midrange even though it drives a single 15" Peavey Black Widow cabinet. It does allow a fair amount of tonal flexibility however, and is not a "one-trick-pony" as are some of the popular tube amps for instance. I could see this being an excellent acoustic bass amp as well.
I balance the controls to cut treble (quarter turn), cut midrange (a lot), and boost bass to give some more low end punch. With the Peavey Black Widow 15" I have a nice pure and clean sound.
It has enough juice to "rattle the rafters" with the "B" string even when set on just 4-5.
Simple controls, you can dial in your sound quite quickly. I also own a Peavey TKO 115 with contour, graphic equalizer, bass / treble. It has almost too much tone adjustment complexity. The Deltabass gives reasonable and useful ranges of adjustment.
I've had it for a few months, no problems yet but I do keep extra fuses handy. It will be used every week, (2-3 times per week) as the amp for any bassist playing in our church including the youth worship team (GULP).
