Well, seeing as my last review has disappeared into the electronic ether, I'm going to have to do it again! From the opening spoken word of vocalist Katrina Patterson, this record oozes a class all of its own. Excellent recording for a live gig (this is almost studio quality- amazing) allows the real feel of the band to be portrayed. A line up of 2 guitars, keys, bass, synth and drums makes for a very powerful and flexible sound. (Bass and synth played by AB member Chuck Howard) Stylistically, the band are hard to pigeonhole (hence my putting them in experimental), from the crashing rock driven 'Sanguine', to the Portishead-esque 'Shuttle' (my current favourite), even to a funky ending track 'Seize the Time', the members show their musical versatility at all times. How could this be better? well, they're Americans..... j/k :-). The only improvement that I could think of making to this recording is in lengthening it- it's current 7 tracks sitting somewhere between EP and CD. My repeat function is wearing out..... Get it. This is what genius sounds like.
