My first bass and I still love playing it.
Model Year: 1999
Price: $500.00 Canadian (new)
Where Obtained: Dealer
Features:
Red Body Alder/Ash veneer Neck Maple Bolt-on Fretboard Rosewood Pickups 2 Active humbuckers Gold Control Knobs Controls Volume, pan, bass boost/cut, treble boost/cut Frets 24 Bridge 4-string
Playability:
This was the first bass I ever bought and now I use it as a practice bass. It's a very comforatble bass to play. Light weight and the fret board is very comfortable to play.
Sound Quality:
For the price and as a practice/beginner bass, it sounds great.
Durability:
Stays in tune. So far this bass has held out well and I'm one to bang up my instruments a lot. (Clumsy me.)

I would recommend this bass to anyone that wants a great bass without spending a lot of money. It is much better than anything else in the price range and has great playability. The bass player from taproot uses some version of this bass in 5 string but i think his is custom built, and i am trying to figure out what it is because I am interested in upgrading this bass, but keeping it similar.
Price: $300.00
Where Obtained: Used
Features:
Made in Japan, 24 frets, small body style, but a little heavy for how small it is. Active electronics and I thought they were humbuckers, but they buzz when i play in my basement with lights that have a dimmer so I guess they are single coil like the other review says. Really good for the money though.
Playability:
Great low action and playability. I have small hands and love the feel, but the 5 string version is no good for me because the string spacing remains the same as the 4, so it uses a much wider neck. I am trying to upgrade to a bass that plays just like it but has a warmer sound, but I am having trouble with that.
Sound Quality:
Has great sound, but one problem is that my d and g strings tend to be drowned out by the guitar, and sometimes they have a kind of crunchy distortion or fretbuzz if I try to compensate by playing the string harder. However, when I play outdoors I don't have that problem, so I don't know if its the acoustics of where we play. If you are not trying to power a song with the higher strings I wouldn't worry about it. I have also recorded with it and it sounded good. I would have liked better punch, but I didnt really know what to do with my eq at that point, so thats probably my fault.
Durability:
I have dropped it a couple times, left it in my car in the winter, hit walls with it, but nothing happens to it. Stays in tune, never needed to adjust the truss rod, but did it once just to make sure i could.

Model Year: 1999
Price: $370.00 (new)

Features:
Its an real nice price bass! active electronics....with that darkblue body...24 frets...two single coil pickups...everything standard...
Playability:
Its a great electric bass....when i say electic i mean it...so no great wooden growl that you know from fenders and other brands... great slapping bass...turn it full active and hammer on that strings bite them punch them and so on! great funky sound! yes the neck is a slim one with no flaws...not so good looking as my fretless G&L L-2000 ebony fingerboard... the only flaws are....? for that price the bass has no flaws!
Sound Quality:
Ok you dont have that range on possible sounds from that bass! dont turn to much on that knobs....let all knobs turned full on. the right sound you get from your amp! turn the middles on your eq on...and get that 70s funky sound...and slap what you can!
Durability:
? no problems with durability! no intonation trbls and so on....
