Very Cool Album! I love every song on there. If you don't know much about Jazz, this is a crash course in it. If you don't know Charles Mingus you don't know bass.

If you want to learn Jazz bass, this is one man to learn from. Mingus had a vision like no other. His strong will imposed many great tunes on this disc, but probably none more notable than "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat". This tune gets me emotional every time. "Fables of Faubus" and "Open Letter to Duke" are also stand outs. To hear these tunes from a time when Jazz was taking a new route, makes you wonder how Mingus found compassion amongst chaos, but I'm glad he did.
