Handmade in prague, czeck republik, i bought a white one, within 1 day i had to return it as the electronics were shot. i got my money back, then received a phone call from the store asking me to reconsider so they special ordered me one that i have never seen equal to. mine is a 5 string ns5cr in swamp ash with Real EMG's in it and most have EMG HZ'swhich are passive., it has a volume, treble, bass, and pickup blend controls. mine also has adjustable switches in the battery cavity to boost and cut treble and mid-range.it has a typical steinberger shape, with a 5-bolt bolt on neck. Flaws with the bass as far as i am concerned are minor. there is a large gap between body and strings where the neck meets the body. when playing finger style, it adds to difficulty but irrelevant when slapping. I love the contoured body and compared to the warwick thumb 5 i tried and the music man 5 it was my fave.

The bass has a great, fat, warm sound and with a few tweaks of the controls can really lay down some serious funk. I play it through a Yorkville bm400 combo, biamped to a yorkville 410 cabinet. The amp is a little cheap but provides really good tone with this bass. I prefer it to the sound of my baby my first bass and love.

The bass has given me no problems since purchase. when i bought the white one it grenaded instantly. My natural oil bass came misdrilled for the G-string and the tuner keys would actually touch in the exact spot. Luckily a luthier here fixed it< as it took 10 months for the bass to arrive from date of ordering>

It probably is the best bass ever made. It was made in the Czech Republic, but this hand-made beauty will probably outstand the American Spectors. It is made of the best wood you can imagine. It has 24 frets, 5 strings, very pretty inlays (even in position 1)! It is an active-pickup (by EMG) bass. The electronics are integrated in the pickups! There are two pickups tha can be blended with one of the 4 control knobs. Other knobs: Volume, Bass, Treble. It has a perfect finish: it is a black bass with bordeaux-red quilted finish. Its machine-heads and bridge are gold! (Schaller machine-heads) The body has the Ned Steinberger form (as stolen by Warwick). It has a neck-through system, so the sustain is marvellous!

The bass sounds extremely well in every style you play. Superb slap sound, tapping sounds are great, and fingerstyle sounds couldn't be better. I very much like the wood of the neck. The low B is no problem for the bass (but for my amplifier, it is!) The transition from neck to head has a lump. You can feel if you are in the right position!

I use my Peavey Century amp and my Zoom 506 effects machine. But I regret being digitally sampled by it. The natural tone is so great! It fits all styles. I play lots of grooves (Fish), Funk, but also ballads. It fits all. The sound can be as full as you want. I also added my MIDI-interface to it. (Axon AX100) It has been shielded very well, it's not noise at all. It's perfect for stage and studio.

It's a very high quality bass, it is robust! I find that I need to tune this baby more than my previous basses, that's a pity... The hardware is perfect for durability!
