This is a very simple, straightforward amp at a reasonable price. I looked at various Peaveys, GK's, lower-end SWR's, Hartkes, and was most pleased overall with this amp. If it were stolen, I would probably save up and purchase a used SVT3Pro (100 watts more power + tube pre. I thought the lows and highs were a little smoother, but at the time I couldn't afford the extra $250.)My favorite aspect is it's good tone and complete ease of operation. the only negative thing I can think of is that it doesn't have Speakon outs, but that really isn't too big of a deal. Overall, I can say that if you are at a moderate budget and want a dependable, straightforward amp with good tone - check one out!

Features:
Very basic - consists of 2 independant switchable eq sections (9 band graphic eq and a 3 band knob eq.) a -15db input pad, limiter, 2 1/4" speaker outputs, pre-amp in (disables the 350H's pre section), effect send/return, XLR balanced output with pre/post eq switch and -20db attenuator (very handy for connecting to 'hot' inputs.) Pre and power stages are both solid state. The amount of power has been adequate for me thus so far, and has allowed me to compete in smaller clubs without running through a PA, and has given me a healthy stage volume in larger venues.
Sound Quality:
My primary bass is an Ibanez BTB405QM, but also use an early 80's Ibanez X Series and an old GSR100 that I put a QP Semour Duncan in. The amp has responded well to each bass, giving a different flavor with each. The tone has some tube characteristics, with a nice warmth and a slight growl with the pre kicked up at 6 or so - but a total tube-head might be dissapointed. Compared to other solid state amps I've tested, it blows them all out of the water! it made a GK400RB sound anemic, Fender Bassman 400 sound flat and boring, and SWR sound like nails running down a chalkboard.
Ease of Use:
It couldn't be easier. The 3 band eq will give fairly good results, but the graphic eq section is really where it's at. Not much adjusting necessary to get a great tone.
Durability:
I honestly don't know how someone could kill one of these things :) so far I've dropped mine 3 times, played it in extremely hot conditions for hours at a time, and never had a problem one. It's nothing but a 40lb birch box with electronics mounted in it - can't get much more durable than that!

I looked at the ampeg B2r amp which is pretty much a cheaper rackmount version but i bought this one because i didn't want a rackmount. I also looked at some SWRs and messa Boogies. This one was the best for the money and the quality. if it were lost or stolen i think i might save up for a while and buy a tube amp or an SVT 4-Pro. but if i didn't have time to save up i'd deffinetly get this one again. It'd be cool if it had some built in effects but it's not needed. I think the best thing about this amp is it's sturdiness. also it's ability to findthe right sound.

This is a solid state 350 watt amp. It's the classic style of the ampeg amps. It's got a volume, gain, bass, mid, and high knobs. it's also has an 8 band i believe EQ. Also it has a built in limiter along with a -15db switch
Sound Quality:
I play a Fender Mexican P-bass, and i run it through an Ampeg svt610hlf. I'm in a punk band and it's suited just fine. Although i hit the limit a lot, that's because we play super-loud. I also play funk, tap, and jazz. It's super quiet and it blew away my old Crate b200xl. If you don't have the limiter on then the sound distorts if you go to high but that's why you put the limiter on.
Ease of Use:
It's really easy to find a good sound. When i bought it it came with a book that had preset settings and that worked out fine but i have them customized now. You can take a lot of time and figure out the exact setting you want but it's obtainable. It's easier in my opinion then the SWR's, Crates, and the Hartke's to use.
Durability:
This thing is built like a horse. I've been playing constantly for about a half a year now and it's fantastic. Nothing has fallen off and it has yet to be repaired, hopefully that won't be for a long time.

It's no tube head amp, but you can't judge it on that. For the money i paid and the amount of punishment this thing has been through, it has been a fairly good amp.
Model Year: 1997
Price: $900.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Morrel's Music (Johnson City, Tn)
Features:
The bass head features only one single channel with no built in effects. It has an out put for for the p.a. system, and an effects loop on the back.
Sound Quality:
It has a decent sound. Not a tube head so doesn't have that warm tone desired. good quality sound for the money, but for an advanced player it would not compensate all of their needs.
Ease of Use:
It is a very easy amp to use. You have to fool around with the graphic equalizer for a really good sound, but is not that hard to use.
Durability:
This amp has ben through it all. If I can say anything about ampeg it is that they know how to make a head that lasts though trials and tribulations. they have a really good customere service that i have had to deal with about my cabinet and they have always been good to me. All ampeg equipment also comes with a five year guarentee and they stand by what they say.
