I was so impressed with the 607 that I did not look at any other unit and would certainly buy another if I ever lost it. I like everything about this unit and cannot think of any way I would seek to improve it. If you want a really serious bass effects pedal this is the one for you, although the 707 might suit some peolpe better. I don't know - I've never tried it!
Where Obtained: Music Makers, Lincoln, UK
Features:

The Zoom 607 has a quick assign expression pedal and quick select drive knob. It is powered AC or battery powered. I find the built-in auto-chromatic tuner particularly useful.
I use the 607 with an Ibanez Ergodine bass - itself a serious piece of kit - and the sound is awesome through my Kustom amp. The 607 enables me to play blues, rock, jazz, any style at the touch of the pedal! Altough this is the only unit I have used, I cannot believe anything could sound better, except the 707 perhaps. Like most bass players, I only use a few of the 35 effects available - all individually programmable - but the others are great fun when practising. All effects appear equally effective.
The unit is programmable and infinitely fine-tunable, and once you know the sounds you want it is quick and easy to set up.
This unit has never let me down. It is highly durable, well-constructed, light but tough. It takes any amount of stage treatment and still comes up smiling!
For 100 bucks this baby is amazing! I just got it but already I am enjoying the quality sounds, new patches and efx plus the added control of the expression pedal. The travel on the pedal is a bit short but it still controls very well. I have been looking for a backup to my original 506 [cuz I luv it] and this is a bargain to me. While it's great that it runs on batteries, handy for quickies and jam sessions, I really think that the adapter shoud be standard equipment. The improved tuner readout makes it a lot easier to tune your bass. 9/18/02 Since this is a featured product I thought I'd update this a bit. 6 months later I still think that it is pretty amazing for 100 bucks. I have started using a stereo rig with mixer and combining the zoom 607 in stereo with dry bass and that works really well and it helps to tame some of the wilder efx while still reatining a solid bass tone. 4/11/04 still using it and happy, I have refined some of the patches and set up banks for easy use in performance and for different basses this pedal is very adaptable.

This compact stereo multiefx pedal hass all the bells and whistles and all the great zoom sounds. The new user interface now has seperate dial controls for reaching the drive section and the effect section, seperate buttons for increasing or decreasing gain/value/time plus a store button and a pedal assign button. There are some new amp models plus fretless, echo and pitch modulation. While some of these efx aren't necessarily new they weren't accessable without using an external (and expensive) expression pedal. With the expression pedal you can now control Wah, Drive, Modulation/Pitch, Delay/Reverb and volume in real time. Plus it still drives a set of headphones for practice, tunes your bass and serves as a line driver for long cable runs and as a bypass/mute switch handy for changing basses, tuning or silent practice.
The 607 has the same studio quality Zoom efx of it's other brothers. I just got back from a recording session and it works fine and the new amp models are pretty realistic sounding on playback. Some players will like some efx and hate others but they are all good to great sounding and the added control is a real plus. Sure seperate pedals sound better and offer more control, but considering all that this does and the cost you still gotta beef, get real.
I have just started reprogramming this pedal to get some of my favorite patches from my original 506 and the access on the 607 is much easier and quicker. This is really one of the easiest pedals to program that I have found. The layout of the foot switches is very good I am not having any troubles changing patches and using the control pedal even with my size 12s in houseshoes.
Bullet proof, no but pretty darn close. Two years of daily use for practice and gigs and it is still working fine - no problems with the jacks or switches at all. Treat it with care and respect it should be just fine.
I would only reccommend buying this (or any multi effects for that matter) as your first dabble into the wonderful world of effects, to find out whats what. fun as it is the sound quality is really very poor and i would go for stomp boxes every day of the week and twice on sundays now i know what kind of effect i like to use.

Has everything under the sun but in a way is the worse off for it. im sure there are some fantastic effects available, but working out what you want is another matter. if your willing to spend the time on this im sure its pretty damn good. has two switches and an expression pedal. its entirely digital and has sterio output (i think!) althoug ive never used it. people say you need the adaptor, but ive been goin well with 2 sets of rechargeable batteries.THE CHROMATIC TUNER IS AN ABSOLUTE GOD-SEND however and its getting 5 just for that
Sound Quality:

I was expecting to use this for audioslave stlye effect orgies, but its so hard to get the right sound ive found ive been using it more to give me features my amp lacks (octaver, sub harmoniser, distortion) rather than the combinations that are possible, as they all sound a bit contrived and many of the delay/reverb settings sound much the same. in general not that good and all very digital sounding.
Effects are easy enough to scroll through, but pedals are a little small for my size 11s and frequently have i missed an effect. as far as i can see the expression pedal does nothing and one of the knobs seem a bit pointless. creating a patch and storing it is beautify simple, but getting the right sound id more of a struggle
Although only plastic lokks pretty damn sturdy, and little ever goes wrong with digital units. im sure it deserves a 5 but i havent had it long enough to tell.
I have choose this effect because, the low price and my playing skills. This effect can be better if you have your own sound with zoom.

I use on this effect Aria Pro 2 and Bass Sound 200 Amp
I play with this effect rock and hard rock style (distortion effect is very good), and you can play another styles on this effect.
Sound is better with effect.
You can very easy edit or create your own effect's and patches.
Does any1 in the UK want to buy this pedal from me for an affordable price?? email me at www.mattharman2002@hotmail.com if your interested and we can discuss prices. I don't want to much for it cos its been made redundant by my other pedals,(I'm not doing a good job of selling it to you am i?) however i did pay 120 quid for ti so it would be nice to get a little money back.

It was the first pedal i ever bought and its helped me understand more about all the different effects and what they do. However now that i've learnt to use them all properly, i find that it has too many different features, and you spend aaaaaages looking for 1 sound that you like. I have since bought some single effect pedals which i find you can just press the button and you simply get the sound your looking for, instead of searching through all 7 memory banks containing 6 patches each. The built in chromatic tuner is good.
Sound Quality:

I've mostly been using this pedal at home with my little marshall B25 combo practise amp. Using a yamaha RBX270 bass. The sound quality is poor compared to other pedals i own, but i didn't have anything to compare it to when i bought it. It is quite noisy in some effects even though it boasts to have some noise reduction feature, which doesn't work very well. There are some crazy sounds you can get out of it, but most of them you can't really use in a song. I don't like the distortion on it, it sounds weak, and cheap. The wah effect on it is ok, however the expression pedal doesn't have enough effect on the sound.
Ease of Use:

Its hard to make your own effects, but the factory set ones are usually enouhg unless your looking for a specific sound like in another song. Its quite difficult to change from 1 effect to another sum times wen your in the middle of a busy song, i often end up bypassing the pedal completly by accident becasue you press the 2 foot switches together to bypass and switch tot he tuner, this happens becasue the switches are too small for size 11 feet (dunno what that is in american sizes, but pretty average for a 16 year old boy)
Its made out of plastic, so i can't stomp on it. It also has various fiddly little knobs which might get smashed. I haven't had any faults with it yet tho (owned it about a year). I wouldn't use it in a gig.
I love the fact that i have so many effects, a peddal, a tuner, volume control, etc, in a small $100 box.

I wish it had a drum machine. Thats about it. It's a great product.
I use this with an Ibanez bass and and an SWR Workingmans 12 amp. I have no problems with it.
Easy to use, you can store patches, but the only downside is that you have to erase a previous patch to save a new one.
Its made out of plastic, but i think that it will hold up pretty good. I havent had it long enough to really test it out.
I think it could use more parameters but the sounds are comparable to the bassPOD. Easy to control.

Ac power supply (a must) comes seperately :P.
Its stereo, I like that.
only 1 or 2 parameters for each effect.
lots of effects to use and many can be used at the same time.
Noise reduction helps.
Sounds excellent.
Easy to control but not too many options for specific effects. Not as many buttons as I like to show off. Easier to use than a POD for sure. Unless you have the pedal which is $. Its kinda hard to switch between Banks unless you can press the tiny parameter buttons.
Its pretty light but I havent broken it yet.

This is an excellent thing to get if you want to find out what the different Effects sound like. But a lot of the effects can sound the same. and if your playing a show with it. Its hard to switch from one effect to another. So I'm giving it a 3. But thats just what I thought.
A lot of the effects sound the same.
Hard to go from Effect to Effect quickly.
A simple to use, light and compact, effect-flexible, good sounding unit.
i would definitely get another one if i lost this one.
it's a great investment, definitely a tool, not a toy.

Previously i've only really experimented with 'effects' using a couple of seperate pedals so i thought the switch to an "effects unit" might be a bit of a challenge. not so with this one.
i found it suprising how much variation you can get with so few controls. follow the display (after reading the manual - which is very good too) and it's hard to go wrong
the display is helpful enough once you know what the "codes" are. considering the two character limitation it's good.
i like the large patch switches (large enough targets for my big feet), the experession pedal is fine, and the dials for effects modification and distortion selection are appropriately labeled.
i run it on batteries and they last quite a long time, but it would have been nice if the unit came with a power adapter.
I use a five string aria bass with a yorkville amp. i find the output from the unit very clear, with very little noise being added from the unit.
i also have a 15 watt practice amp which i use for rehersals (i motorcycle everywhere so weight is an issue) and i was surprised how much stability this unit gave to that little practice amp. way less distortion - much clearer sound - with the overall effect of increasing the output.
can't complain about the actual effects in the unit. there are many many sounds. more then enough to keep you entertained for a good while.
Actually editing the patches is easy. select the patch, dial up the effect to add, change the level, store the patch.
you can save a patch to another patch number which is also nice. i created a clean sound then copied it to several other patches and modified them. rather than having to modify every single patch from scratch.
and if you screw up totally you can easily restore the factory default and start again.
i guess if you are trying to recreate a sound you might have to tweek the controls a bit to find that exact sound.
Durability? seems tough.
as a kind of obscure test - i travel everywhere by bike, don't handle my gear with the greatest of care, and it all still works... so i guess it's sturdy enough.
haven't had any electronics issues with it, cracking/popping/power drop-out.
I liked the sound I used to get from the 506 and I sold it and I decided to get the better version. I would deffinently buy this again especially for the price I got it for (it was a steal). It has some really good sounds on it and almost every sound I could imagine I can get with this pedal with just a little Playing with!
I would reckomend this pedal to anyone who likes to get weird to nice sounds.

It has very clear easliy marks swithes. It has an expression pedal. It is battery powered and ac adaptable. This pedal is the upgrade of the old 506 pedal.
I use a 4x10 quad with a 300 watt Hartke amp which gives me some great sounds.I play a very heavy melodic metal sound and it is great to switch between the sounds from a warm bass sound to a real driven distorted sound for those real heavy segments. I have use the 506 bass pedal and this is very similar but it has a expression pedal on this one. The one thing I found bad about this pedal is that if you turn the compression up with to much high end it really hisses.but other than that it works excellently
This unit is really easy to create your own patches or just to modify the already installed patches. Most of the pre programed patches are very nice so I just gave them a touch up and moved them to where I wanted them for easy finding.
The pedal is made out of really tough plastic so it would be really durable. My old 506 bass pedal was dropped, stood on, Danced on, Thrown, Yelled at and finally prodded(all by accident of corse)and it still going hard and strong. So if it is anything like my 506 which I think it is because it is just the upgraded model of the 506 it should last forever.
