This book by Jon Liebman comes from the Hal Leonard series of bass instruction books. Having bought "Walking Bass" from Hal Leonard, I wasn't sure about buying this book. Well, I broke down and bought it. This book is instructional. All lessons are tabbed and in notation; plus each lesson is on the CD that comes with the book.
I have always liked playing the blues, but wanted to get better. This book shows you many differnt blues progressions in many different keys and time signature. It also has a great section on turn arounds, plus it ends with some very good bass solos in case you get 12 bars to show off.
This book is perfect for my skill level and I believe that it would be valuable to bassists of all levels.
I like that this book tells the history of the blues and also recommends 100's of records to hear how the blues have progressed. The worst thing I can say about this book, is that I wish it was longer. Don't get me wrong, it has everything you need to improve, but I'd like more of it.
If you are into playing the blues, and you find that blues bass can get boring, pickup this book and you will find that blues bass can be fun to play and there is so much more then playing in the blues or minor scales.
