The video's fun to watch but it lacks of contents. It gives me more an impression of an interview than a lesson. It is fun to watch flea's jams and to listen to his thoughts and approach to music, but there isn't much to learn except to do your thing and to feel what you play.

I bought this when I first started playing--before I had an amp! It was a great introduction to bass and is something I still watch and learn from and have fun playing with. My family even watched it and learned from it and they are so far from musicians. It's full of Flea's philosophies and what state of mind he keeps himself in to be the best player he can be. He talks of his influences and different techniques. But it's mostly just plain improvisation and jamming w/ drummer Chad Smith or solo during the interview with his close friend River Pheonix. But to be honest, while i do recommend this to everyone, and it helped me tremendously, it doesn't exactly boost the confidence of a beginner...its rather humbling actually.
