This bass is awesome. Period. The only other bass I was looking at the time was a stand up bass and the main reason I choose this one was because I knew that fender is a quality company. Plus I'm sorta on this "buy only american" phase. You know, help the economy and all. I think I would buy this bass again if it were stolen. The bass could be better if there was just some way to get rid of the string buzz, but that might be just me. The best aspect of this bass is by far the sound. There is nothing like it.

The Urge II is an american made fender. The neck is made of maple with a rosewood fretboard, while the body is made of alder. The neck features two octives/24 frets. It features the basic 4 strings with some bad a-- active electronics. It has a master volume, blending knob, bass, mid, high, and a pickup selector. The pickup configuration is a J/P/J config. Yeah thats right three pick ups.
You can easily get the action you want on this bass. The neck plays beautifully. The only problem is that it's hard to get the strings low and NOT have a string buzz, but i think thats a problem all basses have.
One word; well actually a hypenated word: Dream-like. The sound is pretty much the #1 reason why I bought this bass. I use a Hartke 4x10 so I definitley get a very Stu Hamm-type sound. I play many different style of music and this bass plays very well with rock and jazz music. The sound is extremely full: what do you expect from three pick ups? When compared with other basses, the sound is just so much fuller, I love it. I haven't used it on stage, yet, but I used it for recording along with a Hartke Kickback and the two sounded phenominal together.
I would give the bass a "10 out of 5" to stand for better than anyone can imagine but it just doesnt go that high.
I haven't had it that long, so I really havent had problems with durability.
I falled in love for this bass when I saw it on the fender site, and I falled in love for stu hamm too (just like bassist) and I wante to buy it. In the first time I ordered it in blue color but the time of shipment was too long, so I purchased the red one that is very beatiful anyway. If it were lost or stolen I think I will sure buy it again. This bass could be better with a better neck, more precise. I love this bass for the design, for tones and for playability too.

Made in usa, 24 frets, 4 strings, three pick-ups, a jazz splitted standard and two noisless, active electronics.
I use a Yamaha 250watt amplifier and the sound is very powerful and warm, and for the slap is very very nice, I play some many kind of music, from blues, to funk to pop and the sound is always good and versatile. I didn't play much other basses but the sound I can guarantee that is beautiful, if you would like to get better sound I think I should go to a Yamaha TRB 5PII or to a Laurus. I think it can be good for studio and for live too.
Very hard instrument, I got it only for 3 months but I feel it very resistent. I adjusted it just at the beginning, the action was very high and I adjusted the high of the pickups and the bridge for the intonation... after done it touch one more time the intonation. The strap-lock are very good, the controls was out of range, I should arrange it, during the climate changes it fare good.
