This was one of the first really rock albums that I got into (along with Zep. 2). Cygus X-1 stunned me at that time - and got me into playing odd time signatures. A sentimental favorite!

A Farewell to Kings is really a milestone in Rush's history, since the use of keyboards, midi and synthetizers was becoming a common practice for them, adding texture and beauty to the well written and melody driven songs of this album. Honestly, if you want an album filled with mysterious melodies and lyrics, A Farewell to Kings is your Rush's album. Xanadu sports one of the best basslines of all Rush's albums. Only drawback, it lacks the "hard rocker" that the previous albums all had... And as far as playing goes, Alex, Neil and Geddy are all out of this world... Showing they had nothing to envy to other progressive acts such as King Crimson or Yes... or Dream Theater.
