I'm extremely happy with this bass, and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great quality high-end instrument. I haven't found anything yet with it that I'm not happy with.

Amazing playability.. so smooth, I upgraded from a Standard (Mexican) Jazz bass, and the difference is huge
The sound is phenomenal, well suited to rock, and jazz (I play with some jazz swing/bigbands), great slap tone, nice clear sound out of the low-B string.
Came with good quality leather strap, strap-locks, and the intonation and truss rod were still perfectly set up, even after shipping... I am impressed so far
I chose this bass because it was the best bass I had ever played on. Granted I havnt ever played on a custom, but I think this is the best non-custom bass. I will continue playing this bass until it no longer works. My favorite part of this bass is everything, the quality of the pickups, the EQ, the sustain on the bass, and the fact that it can do anything. The worst aspect? hahahaha dont even think about it. The one thing about this bass is that it stands out, even if your just playing the roots. It might just be my style of playing but I have never been able to fade into the backround (not that I want to).

Made in the US -Neck maple -24 frets -Bass, Treble, Mid boost/cut, volume, pickup controls -2 American Deluxe Jazz pickups -3 tone sunburst (so pretty) -strings through body
Very good, I wasnt expecting a five string to be so easy to play. The rolled edges help too.
First of all the sound quality is godlike. I use it with a ashdown electric blue and it works great. I have yet to find a style of music it cant play, it plays anything Jazz, Punk, Blues, Classic Rock, Modern Rock, Heavy Metal(if your into that sort of thing), and Reggae. I was looking for a bass that was very versitile with a great sound and this si perfect. With the maple fretboard this bass stands out, dont expect to fade into the backround with this bass, yet at the same time it can be very smooth. In short with the Jazz pickups and the active EQ you can make just about any sound you want.
I have only had this bass for a few months but it is going strong. It also plays great even if your doing some intence jamming for 3 hours at a time.
I looked at getting a new fender, but this one had been only played for a week. After that the guy put in the closet and let it sit for 3 years. The day i was looking the guy just got done selling it to the store, but had told me about it's short playing history. Getting away from all the other expensive that i own, this bass i would actually pay full retail for! With the way it is now with the Bartolini p/u's and electronics! But the options on this bass are well worth the money, especially the fret board and fret work!

Attention to detail is superb! Some how i got lucky, and have not one dead spot from low to high. 22 fret, rolled edge pao ferro fret board, and active electronics. The Fender light weight tuners are nice, Although, i would have liked to see Fender put full metal tuners on it.
With the switch to D'Addario playing is great. Neck is easy with comfortable feeling. For a "wood neck" i'd say "feel wise" that the only bass i would actually say that could play and feel better would be a Fodera!
In '97 fender had the 5, single pole pieces in their p/u's. But their electronics were better then, apposed to now. "Except for the Regi Hamilton bass electronics"
Anyway, i wanted this bass active passive, so i switched to Bartolini p/u's and electronics. Sound improved greatly, obtaining a more vintage sound, although with the ability to get a very hot sound!
I cant say enough
expensive but well worth it
