Overall Rating:
Nice bass for sentimental reasons, not fit for the music of this millenium though.
Model Year: 1968
Price: $150.00 6,000 BEF (new)
Where Obtained: second hand
Features:
The famous McCartney violin bassguitar was built in Germany. Nice shape, small neck, One low pick-up and one high pick-up, volume and tone knobs with 3 shuffle plastic controllers for tone, passive electronics.
Playability:
Good playability, the neck isn't that strong, after playing several weeks it became "banana"-shaped. It's too light and fragile to play "contemporary" music.
Sound Quality:
I used it with a Kustom Combo and VOX. The latter gave the best "Beatles-sound", of course, the sound can be very warm. Ideal as practising bass!
Durability:
Not very reliable, after a gig someone touched by accident the bass, standing in a standard, the guitar fell on it's head which broke. It was repaired but is very sensible to climate changes now.
