I demo'd about 3 pedals at the store. Can't remember the names of the others. I just listened for the best sound and didn't pay much attention to the band name.
Price: $195.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Musicloft of Raleigh, NC
Features:
Volume, Tone, Dynamic (Compression), Fry (Distortion), and an interal trim pod to control the low end. Both AC and Battery (9volt). AC adapter not included, battery was. You gotta unscrew 4 crosstips to get at the battery. That sucks. I think they did that so it would be fully shielded from emi.
Sound Quality:
I use this with Ken Smith BSRJ5, Yamaha RBX6JM, and Fender J. I use it for Southern Blues rock and heavy metal. It'll work just about anywhere though. You can add just a touch of growl to your sound, or go all out distorted with it. Way better distortion than Line6's bass pod. Due to the heavy shielding, I haven't had any uncontrolled noise coming from this box. The shielding also doubles as protectiong. This thing is solid.
Ease of Use:
Not a programmable unit. It acts according to where the knobs are. Pretty simple to use. The "Dynamics", and the "Fry" switch are where you start. Once you get them setup correctly, adjust the "Tone" and "Volume" to taste. Ease of use is about like any other distortion pedal I've seen.
Durability:
I don't see this thing breaking. It's pretty solid. You'll see what I mean if you ever go to the store to check one out.
