Fender knew what they were doing when they made these strings. I don't know how they sound on other basses, but on a Fender, this is it!!!

Nothing beats the 8250s for intonation and balance. These unique bass strings are wound on a round core with a tapered winding on the E and B strings. The 8250s are designed to fit Fender's string-through body basses. Superior balance and tone- you will hear the difference!Super Bass 8250/5M Gauges: .045, .065, .085, .110TW, .130TW (Taperwound E & B)
I was in the music store and saw this pretty Crimson Transparent bass with gold hardware and I had to go pick it up. It was a Fender American Deluxe FMT V Jazz Bass. No matter what amp I played that bass through, the tone was amazing! Needless to say I bought it. I used to use Fat Beam on my other Fender (78" Jazz), But now all I ever use is those Fender 8250's. What a find!!!
I have a tuner in my rack which I seldom use because these strings stay tuned. I replace them about every 3 to 4 months, not because I have to, it's just force of habit. I'll never by those high priced strings again. I don't have to. It's back to basics for me! Fender 8250s!
I've played many other brands of string and the Fender Taperwound are by far my favorite. Perhaps if all of the strings were tapered, they would be better, but they would be weaker. If you like new sounding strings and dont want to go to the store everyday, buy these!

.045 .065 .080 .105 guage. Taperwound E string.
I play my Fender Jazz bass with these strings on a heartke 40-watt practice amp and a peavey 800-watt gig amp. I play funk and jazz, so I'm usually slapping/popping/tapping. The Taperwound E string gives great sustain and tone, nice and bright, and is very well suited for my style.
These strings are great, they stay bright for god knows how long, I like a "new" sound to my strings and I rarely need to change them because of dullness. They hold a tune great as well, and the only reason I change them is if a string breaks.
