I was going to get another ESP untill i picked up this Q4 and it made a believer of me!!!! But i still wont trade in my CARVIN!!!!!!!!!!!
Price: $490.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Midwest Inst.
Made in Korea which didnt bother me as long as it played like i wanted and it did.
The Maple 3 piece neck is strong with 5 screws holding it down to the alder body(Ned Stienberger design).I think Alder gives it a smooth all around tone!!!
Controls are simple vol/vol/bass/treb. 2 EMGHZ soap bar pickups along with the active 2 band EQ give it a smokin sound . Under the back cover plate are 2 dip switches so you can change the trebles freq. point(4 diffrent settings).
The finish on mine is a orangish Flame maple(dont remember the correct name). The bridge is simple but not string through. I wasnt going to buy it because of the color but i shut my eyes and played it awhile and took it home that day!!!!!!
Neck playability is awsome, low action or high what ever you want,it feels good in my hand.
Couldnt find workmanship flaws on the body and the control compartment was clean and neat!!!
With my SWR or GK this axe sings .I dont use FX if possible so i can hear and use the full sound!!!! No humming what so ever. All ive added were stap locks, but im thinking of trying some BARTOLINI pickups!!!!
It will hold up to a demanding schedule with moderate climate adjusting and maintenance!!!!!!
I'd buy it all over again. No questions asked.

It was made in Korea, which scared the hell
out of me, but I figured I could trust the Spector
name. It has a 3 piece maple neck and alder
body. 24 fret four string. Each pickup has it's
own volume control, which I like much more
than a blend knob. Also has 2 notched tone
controls. 2 Emg soapbars. Mine is an
absolutely stunning quilted maple top with
blackish/purplish stain. The hardware on this
bass is very high quality. Excellent, heavy
block style bridge and nice tuners.
My band tunes to E flat, so I had to make a few
adjustments, but it only took me about 10
minutes and I had it dialed to my liking. I
bought this bass because I have 3 other
Spectors. This one is my main baby. It's
pretty heavy, but not as heavy as my Q-5,
NS2000 or NS2A. For the price, I have found
nothing that can even come close to this
guitar. It feels and sounds like a 2,000 dollar
instrument.
I live in Upper Michigan. It is very cold and
snowy, but has a warm summer, lots of lake
effect weather. The Q-4 holds up to anything.
I have left it in my van overight at 5 below and
had no problems. Not that that's a good idea,
but it can be done. I use it at every gig for at
least 75% of the night. NO problems at all.
