Description The debut album from this solo bassist is amazing. Stu uses all techniques including slapping and tapping to pull off this wonderful music masterpiece.

Until I picked up this CD, I never heard a bassist play this way, and get such a clear, clean, and punchy, growly sound like this. This CD is only the beginning of what he will show us, and this debut is stellar! The only reason I give this disc a four, is because I know his second release will get a five.

This is Stuart Hamm's solo debut. The only way this album could be improved would be more songs. My favorite aspect of the record is the song Country Music, my least favorite aspect is not enough songs. The bass playing on this album is magnificent. I don't think anyone compares to Stu Hamm. If you like this record you'll like all his others.

Intro: After having played bass for 3 years, I heard of Stuart Hamm through a guitarist friend. Out of curiosity I bought the tape (yes, cassette tapes were big then). Well, after the shock, I literally sat in my bedroom and cried for a while. I thought I was a great bassist, and I simply could not believe that you could make a bass guitar do those things. I was sooo depressed. I can say now that this was the most inspirational album in my bass development. Thank you Stu!
Great Bass Playing: This album contains great solo bass playing. From fast-fingering action on Dr. Gradus Ad Parnasum, eloquent backgroud music in Flow My Tears, serious slappin' -n- tappin funk in Sexually Active, hillarious red-neck stompin grooves in Country Music, and amazing technique and musical expression in Stu's rendition of Moonlight Sonata.. it is all amazing.
