Insomniac is Green Day's fourth album and it was released in 1995 on the Reprise Records record label. Though it reached #2 in the US and went 4xplatinum, Insomniac didn't have the sales endurance of its predecessor, Dookie, largely due to its slightly darker lyrical tone and more abrasive sound.

This might not have been considered as good as Dookie, but I think that this album is underrated. It has loads of energy, and while the songs may not have been as catchy as those on Dookie they still have good melody.

Green Day was good, but let's just try to forget about this one, okay?

This is the most energetic cd of a very energetic band.Insomniac is pure speedy pop punk with excellent lyrics by Billy Joe and catchy Bass riffs by Mike. The cd starts out of the gate with four fast rockin songs,Armitage Shanks has great lyrics as well as Geek Stink Breath and Walking Contradiction.Pure manic energy, very cool. The only draw back is a lack of variety but with lyrics and music like this I can overlook that.
