This is a great choice for a small gig where high power is not needed. Peavey has been a leader in the quantities of amps sold but not in quality. I think Peavey has become formidable in the mid priced bass amps and has increased quality where others have added more gadgets but cut corners. Certainly a small amp to consider.

All solid state with hi/low level inputs, tuner out, DI out, sound contouring, effects loop, 200 watts @ 4ohms or about 140 @ 8 ohms. Works great for small to mid size gigs or running direct through the PA. Light weight, 2 rack spaces high and very shallow.
I run the amp through 2 EV 10s in a custom combo using a 5 string. It is extremely clean, tight and has flexible tone settings for R&B, R&R, jazz, funk.
Very straight forward amp, with few frills. Does have compression/limiter, bright switch (makes it too bright), pretty much a set and forget type amp.
The Session is built very well, solid chassis with few breakable parts but is very compact and light weight.
I looked at all-in-one enclosures from peavey, as well as other makes. Because of the quality of this amplifier, I chose this one, as well as the fact that I couldn't afford a Firebass 700. even though I'm just beginning, it's well worth the investment. a high quality amp like this as well as the speaker set I bought will last a long time, and I can always get a different bass to play thru this.
