This CD blows compared to others they have had. Why would they move to pop???It suxs!! they were such a great band at one point. But their new CD sounds better ib the way they are starting to go backto their old ways.

Ok, ok so it's not as good as the last offspring albums, but The Offspring are still my favorite band, i think they made up for americana with conspiracy of one (if you love americana or hate it, try CO1)

A terrible album from a formerly great band. Americana is proof of yet another band giving in to "popular" rock. Those people who were fans of previous Offspring records will be sorely disappointed by wasting their money on this awful record.

I agree with Sam that a band should change with time, as the Offspring are aging and raising families, but I believe the album is a signal that Offspring will not be attracting its old fans as it once did. In terms of branching out into different styles, I disagree. Each song takes an idea or melody element from another album (Gone Away and No Hero - let's see, End of the Line? Come out and play -- Pretty Fly) Admittedly, the Beatles impersonation is a new step (though I think it's a very catchy song, Why don't you get a Job is not a great song), but their self-titled album featured tracks like Tehran and Blackball which borrowed elements from many styles as well. Americana chooses to rip off blatantly rather than incorporate a style into their own, and for that reason, I do not respect this album as much as I do the other four Offspring albums I own.

I have to disagree with you guys on this one. It seems that the offspirng have abandoned their anti-mainstream past and tried to appeal to the kiddies on this one. Silly tracks are included in the lineup, and there isn't a single song on this album that makes me angry. In fact, the album makes me feel like a 12 year old with a dumb smile on my face. Whatever happened to the angry punkism of the past?

An album that can do no wrong based on one song. The Kids Aren't Alright is the greatest song I have heard in my life and it has made the album. If you don't like anything else buy the album for THAT SONG!!!!!!!!

The Offspring branch off in a lot of new directions on this CD, trying out different styles than their usual hard rock/punk fare. I've heard many Offspring fans saying they hated this album, but I personally think it's a great leap forward for the band. How can one expect a band to not change over the course of more than a decade in the music industry? That said, the bass and guitar work is as smooth as ever, with lots of innovative new bass lines. Catchy tracks like "The Kids Aren't Alright" and "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" keep the album moving along at a nice pace. Overall a good buy, not be missed by veteran Offspring fans or people just looking for a good time.

Offspring keep on going strong with this album, which adds to the list of great songs by this great band. Awesome tracks like "The Kids Aren't Alright," the title track, and an abudance of additional ones. The bass is as strong as ever on this one, and the lyrics and guitar follow suit. Truly a CD worth buying.
