I got this amp at a steal from a friend of my family.i payed 500 cash for the mark4 head and 2 black widow 18 cabinets.the head came with a hard case and the cabs had soft covers very beat up.i would take this amp again but the buy was so rare i dont think it would be possible.i think the eq could be better if it was more defined, there is not alot of response in the entire graph.now keep in mind this is used and very old(vintage if u will)and still works well.it worked in a heavy alternative band and my contempory jazz trio(very mellow).i recomend it as a low priced quality amp.
Model Year: 1979
Price: $500.00 (new)
Where Obtained: friend
Features:
It has a ten band eq,built in chorus, solid state electronics,400w through 2 18 cabs,li and low inputs, line out for cd player, lots of stuff
Sound Quality:
When i do use effects i use a zoom bfx 708.i play 4 and five string fretted basses along with a five string frettless tuned e-a-d-g-c.this awp has a great low end with crisp highs, although to get either you must crank them nearly all the way. its a good amp with a warm tone however if u take the lows down you lose all your bottom ens and it will sound like a transducer radio.recently i have been getting an irritating buzz at all volumes.
Durability:
The amp is very reliable.the construction is very solid.i have not had to have any repairs done.the amp is nearly 30 years old and is still in proper working condition.
