I looked at almost every stack available, and narrowed it down to Carvin & Peavey. I went with Peavey because the local music store hsells them, and offers loaners if there is a problem. I would buy it again if it were stolen. I love the tone of this amp, but it is very HEAVEY....good workout for sure.

I play a Fender American P-bass & a Ibanez Sr 500 active. It has switching for active or passive, so the controls don't have to be fiddled with when switching basses. Great for rock & blues. Very clean at high volumes. I use it with a 4x10 & a 1x15.
Very easy to get the sound you want....find it, set it, and then leave it alone....I am going to add a preamp at some point, but it's fine as is.
Peavey is built to last. I have heard stories of dropping them off the truck, and still using them that night. Very heavey duty construction, which is the only downfall....this IS a heavey rig.
The only amp that out permorms this one, in my opinion, is Peaveys own, Max Bass Pre amp w/ DPX 1400 Power Amp.
Buy this it worth the investment, and she never gives you any fuss.

This head basically has it all. Crossover, Tuner out, Effects loop with pedal switch, and sweet sound.
I use seversl different basses with it and have played many styles with it. It is extrememly verasatile. I have only found one head i would ever want to think about swithing it for.
It's Easy to use. You don't have to be a rocket scientest to figure out how to work it, like always you just got to play around with it.
Since it is solid state and is constructed wonderfully, it is extremely durable.
I decided to go with this amp because of it's bang for the buck. The Peavey reputation for building solid gear was worth alot to me. If it were ever lost or stolen, I would find another one. The only problem I can think of is that the face of the amp looks very intimidating. It has alot of graphics and writing that is pointless. The result is a very busy looking amp.

Does have an Effects Loop, Tuner Send, PreAmp out, Power Amp In, XLR Direct Out, 3 Seperate Ground Lifts. 275 Watts @ 8 ohms, 525 Watts @ 4 ohms, and 700 Watts @ 2 ohms. It is a 1 Channel Solid State Amplifier
I use a Fender Jazz (modified), a Fulltone BassDrive, an Ibanez TS-9, and a Bass Balls. I play a mix of Blues, Rock, and Funk. This Amp fits extremely well with any style. The suberb tone control can shape any sound, and imitates a tube quality well enough that you would think it was a tube amp. It can also clean up well enough to handle even the most discriminating ear. It is clean, and virtually noiseless at any volume. It does not distort like a tube amp would, so I use a series of pedals to achieve this effect.
The FireBass 700 is not programable. Depending on you tone preferences it can take no time at all, or several hours to find your perfect tone. Very easy to use despite many different controls
It's a Peavey, the most road-worthy manufacturer around. I've yet to need it serviced. It is a heavy, and very solid unit. I have all the faith that it will be with me for a very long time.
