This is one heavy bass
finding good well balanced strings is tricky..bottom b always needs changed for lighter or heavier, yamaha were unaware of strings shipped with bass, as i got it used ..no clue there
Would benefit from thru body neck to avoid heel(ouch)
Use DI into desk, live small venue with dean markley k300,live large venue, untried as yet, does not like slap, otherwise good all rounder, esp suited to modern jazz, sound is well balanced and configurable
Getting this beauty was a coincidence, because after not playing bass for allmost 10 years (last bass was a Jazz Bass 4 string), I wanted to go for a 5 string (tested the TRB5II a couple of times before). But the store had none available so I gave this one a shot. Convinced me from the first touch and tones. And, most important, my wife fell instantly in love with its sound, so buying decision was made within a couple of minutes;-)

This is a beauty, with all nice features you need:
Ash body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, gotoh style tuners, solid brass bridge, active 3-band electronics, all gold hardware, 35 inch scale and a "semi-wide" 6 string stringspacing.
Simply everything is where I expected it to be and it works great.
Used to a 4 string Jazz Bass and having rather small hands, I was a little bit scared about moving to a 6 string due to the neck's size, but having allmost the same stringspacing made this step easy. Even in the upper range, it was no problem to me.
Wow. Low end, crispy, punchy, warm, funky...simply everything I wanted to have (But not expected to have it in one instrument)
No problems had, no adjustments needed, the only thing I will attach soon are strap locks, because its quite heavy and normal straps don't give me a "safe" feeling.
Intonation is perfect, and tuning is kept over days even with climate changes.
